Kane Brown recently performed at The OC Smoke Show in San Juan Capistrano, California. Although his wife Katelyn was unable to attend due to illness, he found a creative way to include her during his performance of their popular duet, “Thank God.”
As Brown prepared to sing the beloved song, the audience expressed their disappointment over Katelyn’s absence. Understanding that fans cherish their performances together, Brown decided to Facetime her live on stage.
Before the call, he humorously mentioned that it was late at night for Katelyn, implying that his call might disturb her rest, especially since she was battling the flu back home in Florida. “It’ll be okay. I’ve been in timeout before,” he joked.
After a brief wait, Katelyn answered the call. Holding the phone to the microphone, Brown addressed her: “Hi, babe. So they’re kind of upset that you’re not here. I told them you got the flu… Can you turn on the light so they can see your face?” Katelyn playfully responded that she would “kill you” and reluctantly turned on a small light, allowing her face to be seen in the dark room.
Brown, ever the supportive husband, complimented her even while she was feeling unwell, saying, “Girl, you can never look bad. You look beautiful.” When he asked about her health, Katelyn replied, “not good,” which drew sympathy from the audience. Brown explained that she had been sick since he left for his tour a week and a half prior.
After exchanging their “I love you’s,” the call ended. Although he would have liked her to sing her part of the song, he understood her condition. He affectionately described Katelyn as “golden,” even while sick, sharing a lighthearted moment about how things tend to fall apart at home when he is away, jokingly stating, “I’m kidding. She holds the house down.”
Following the call, Brown performed “Thank God” solo and continued with the rest of his concert. Fans lucky enough to witness their chemistry live appreciate the unique charm of their duet.
The singer has just three remaining performances in the U.S. for the year and is set to embark on a tour across Australia starting in January 2027.
