At the age of 77, Barbara Mandrell has expressed her heartfelt feelings after being named one of the five honorees for the upcoming 49th Kennedy Center Honors.
The iconic country music figure was selected by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, joining an esteemed lineup that includes the likes of singer-songwriter Paul Anka, renowned producer David Foster, actor Andy Garcia, and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet.
In a statement shared on her official social media platforms, Mandrell called this honor “one of the greatest honors of my life.” She conveyed her deep appreciation to God, her family, and the many musicians and songwriters she has collaborated with, as well as her loyal fans who have stood by her throughout her remarkable career.
“First and foremost, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose grace has guided me throughout my life and career,” Mandrell stated. “I’m grateful to my family, the musicians and songwriters who have been part of this journey, and the fans who have supported me through every season. Country music has been a gift to me, and I’m humbled that the songs and performances we shared continue to mean something to people.”
