The Band Perry has been diligently crafting what Kimberly Perry describes as “psycho girl love songs,” with recent releases such as “PSYCHOLOGICAL,” “Buzzards,” and “Kill It.” The husband-and-wife duo is eager to share that their latest musical endeavors are building towards an expansive project that is currently in production.
Before their performance at the Nissan Stadium during CMA Fest 2026, the couple spoke with Country Now about their forthcoming collection of songs. Kimberly revealed that fans can look forward to a mix of nostalgic sounds reminiscent of The Band Perry’s early days, combined with a contemporary vibe that reflects their current musical chapter.
“We’re putting the final touches on this project with the aim of evoking the original Band Perry feelings while also embracing 2026,” Kimberly stated. “We’re thrilled with where country music stands today; it’s bold and fresh. This project honors both the past and the present,” she added.
The Band Perry has a long history with CMA Fest. Kimberly reminisced about the trio, which included her siblings Reid and Neil Perry, participating in the CMA Fest Parade, formerly known as the Fan Fair Parade, until its conclusion in 2008. “My first memory of CMA Fest was jumping into the back of a pickup truck and waving as we drove down Broadway during the parade. It was one of my favorite experiences, and I’d love to see the parade return,” she recalled fondly.
Fast forward to 2026, and both the band and the festival have evolved. Now consisting of Kimberly and her husband, Johnny Costello, they had the “surreal” experience of performing at Nissan Stadium on June 5, marking Johnny’s debut on the home ground of the Tennessee Titans. “Even during rehearsal, I felt the significance of being on that stage. I can’t wait to see how the crowd will react when we perform ‘If I Die Young,’” she expressed with excitement.
The Band Perry delighted fans by performing their first number one hit, “If I Die Young,” alongside their latest track, “PSYCHOLOGICAL.” Viewers can relive the magic of their performance during the CMA Fest broadcast, co-hosted by Riley Green and Lara Spencer, scheduled for June 25. The special will air on ABC at 8/7c and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
This year’s CMA Fest will also highlight performances from various artists, including Bailey Zimmerman, Blake Shelton, and many more. SoFi has been named the first-ever broadcast presenting sponsor of CMA Fest, focusing on helping individuals achieve financial independence through music.
The 54th annual CMA Fest will once again take over downtown Nashville from June 10 to 13, 2027, promising an unforgettable experience for country music fans.
