Sammy Kershaw Expresses Disappointment Over CMA Decision
Renowned country artist Sammy Kershaw, celebrated for tracks such as “Labor of Love” and “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” has voiced his dismay after alleging that his request to walk the red carpet at the 60th Annual CMA Awards was turned down.
Social Media Announcement
In a heartfelt post on social media, the Louisiana-born singer revealed that the Country Music Association (CMA) had notified him that he would not be permitted to participate in the red carpet event.
A Disappointing Revelation
Kershaw expressed his feelings candidly, stating, “I just discovered some disappointing news, and it truly hurts me. I need to share my sadness regarding the CMA’s decision to deny my request to walk the red carpet for a few minutes during this year’s CMA Awards. I am quite upset about it.”
Looking Forward to the Event
The country star elaborated that both he and his wife, Mendy, rarely get the chance to attend award functions due to their touring commitments. They were particularly excited about participating in this landmark CMA Awards celebration.
“After adjusting my tour schedule and booking our flights and hotel, she was really looking forward to a special evening together to celebrate country music. To find out I was denied access to the red carpet just two weeks before the event, after being misled for months, is incredibly frustrating,” he lamented.
Frustration with the CMA
Kershaw highlighted his long-standing career and contributions to the country music scene, expressing his disappointment in being denied access despite his accomplishments and status as a lifetime member of the CMA.
A Lifetime of Contribution
“With over 50 years in the industry, countless records sold, and numerous Billboard charted hits, including a nomination for the Horizon Award, I feel I’ve earned the right to walk the red carpet with my wife, as I have done in the past,” he stated.
Gratitude for Fans
Despite his frustration with the CMA, Kershaw expressed appreciation for his fans, acknowledging the joy of performing and the privilege of continuing to pursue his passion. “I am fortunate to be out on tour every year, entertaining the best fans in the world. I believe there should be recognition for artists who have dedicated their lives to contributing to the growth of this organization,” he added.
Final Thoughts on the Situation
In conclusion, Kershaw reiterated the emotional impact of the CMA’s decision, stating he never anticipated that someone with his career achievements would be denied such an opportunity. “I cherish country music, but I would never expect that a successful artist like myself would be unable to walk the red carpet. It’s deeply hurtful and disappointing. I guess my next visit to the CMA’s will be in memory of my contribution, if I’m lucky enough to attend again.”
As per the CMA Awards records, Kershaw was nominated for the Horizon Award back in 1993, now recognized as the New Artist of the Year.
