In just a few weeks, NBC will launch the highly anticipated 30th season of The Voice, introducing some fresh talent to the coaching lineup. Although Blake Shelton will not be returning to his iconic chair, the current coaches are still finding humorous ways to reference the country music superstar.
This season welcomes back familiar faces, including Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, while also introducing newcomers Queen Latifah and Riley Green. In a recent roundtable discussion, the coaches shared their thoughts on the upcoming Blind Auditions and the emotional journey of the competition.
As the conversation shifted, Levine and Clarkson took the opportunity to jokingly tease their absent friend, Blake Shelton. Levine remarked on the new addition of Green, saying, “There’s a new cowboy over here,” to which Clarkson added, “Younger, cooler, hot one.”
Levine continued to emphasize the playful comparison, asserting that Green is a more attractive and talented version of Shelton. Clarkson chimed in with a light-hearted shout-out to Blake, making it clear they were just having fun.
Despite the friendly jabs, Clarkson expressed a concern about Green’s presence, noting that it might complicate her efforts to attract country artists to her team. Previously, she had an easier time recruiting country talent, but with Green in the mix, she realizes she will have to step up her game.
Levine supported Clarkson’s concern, suggesting that she would be a formidable competitor for country artists this season. He pointed out that Clarkson often bridges the gap between country and pop, making her a significant threat in the competition.
As Riley Green embarks on his inaugural season as a coach alongside returning veterans Levine and Clarkson, fans can expect an engaging competition. Tune in for the season premiere of The Voice on Monday, September 21, at 8/7c on NBC.
