The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame is set to honor Miranda Lambert’s profound ties to Western fashion and country music with an upcoming exhibition that will feature outfits she wore during her Las Vegas residency.
Titled “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo,” this display will mark the inaugural showcase in the museum’s new Icons Gallery, officially opening on November 7. Developed in collaboration with Lambert, the exhibition will present a selection of unique costumes from her Velvet Rodeo residency, which spanned from 2022 to 2024. Attendees will have the opportunity to get an intimate view of the outfits that shone on the Las Vegas stage.
Lambert’s love for Western culture is evident not only in her music but also in her pursuits as a horsewoman and an active mounted shooting competitor. Additionally, she is honored as a National Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee. This exhibition aims to showcase her multifaceted identity and her artistic flair as a performer.
Reflecting on her journey, Lambert shares that many of the designs featured in the museum played a significant role in shaping her own stylish persona. “During my initial visit to the National Cowgirl Museum, I was deeply inspired by the remarkable Western fashion on display, prompting me to send several photos to my stylist, Tiffany. We blended that inspiration with elements from Elvis’s era to curate the ‘Velvet Rodeo’ wardrobe,” Lambert reminisces. “It feels truly special to see these pieces gain a life beyond the stage as part of the Museum’s Icons Gallery.”
Ashley Kowalski, the exhibition curator, notes, “Miranda’s ‘Velvet Rodeo’ styling draws from historic garments showcased by iconic Western tailors seen at the Museum. It is a privilege to present her residency wardrobe in a new context where the entire collection can be appreciated.”
Pat Riley, Executive Director of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame, expressed that Lambert’s attributes such as “confidence, determination, and independence” resonate with the museum’s core values. Thus, she serves as an ideal figure to inaugurate the new Icons Gallery, representing the legacy of women honored by the institution.
The “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo” exhibition is part of a larger 16,000-square-foot expansion that will introduce additional galleries and experiences that celebrate the achievements and impact of women in the West.
Located in Fort Worth’s Cultural District, the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame showcases over 4,000 artifacts through engaging exhibits and storytelling, honoring the legacies of artists, ranchers, rodeo stars, and activists who have shaped the Western narrative while inspiring future generations.
The museum will also recognize its 2026 Hall of Fame inductees, including Cherie DeVaux, Laura Kraut, Kenda Lenseigne, Lisa Sorrell, and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, M.D. The 50th National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is slated for November 5.
