Miranda Lambert & Parker McCollum Revive ‘Seven Year Ache’

Collaboration Between Texas Stars

On October 2, Miranda Lambert unveiled her latest album titled Crisco, delighting fans with a surprise collaboration alongside fellow Texan Parker McCollum.

Fresh Take on a Classic

The duo has reimagined Rosanne Cash’s iconic 1981 song “Seven Year Ache,” infusing it with a vibrant country-disco twist that aligns with Lambert’s current musical exploration. This newly released track can be exclusively accessed by downloading Crisco on iTunes until 11:59 p.m. ET on October 8.

Celebrating the Country-Disco Sound

Lambert expressed her enthusiasm about the song, stating on social media, “This track perfectly captures the essence of the country-disco vibe, and I relish any chance to perform with Parker McCollum.”

Storytelling Through Music

The unique blend of Lambert and McCollum’s musical styles brings to life the narrative of a person grappling with the aftermath of a broken relationship, seeking solace in nightlife rather than facing their emotions. The lyrics resonate with listeners, featuring lines like, “Just tell ’em you’re trying to cure a seven-year ache/ See what else your old heart can take.”

History of Collaboration

This new release marks yet another collaboration between Lambert and McCollum, who have previously worked together on tracks such as “Santa Fe” from Lambert’s Postcards From Texas. They have shared the stage multiple times, notably at the 2025 “Band Together Texas” benefit concert that raised over $8.5 million for flood relief in their home state.

Mutual Respect and Inspiration

Lambert praised McCollum, stating, “I enjoy making music with Parker because he’s the real deal. He possesses an innate artistry that is palpable in his music.” McCollum reciprocated the admiration, mentioning Lambert as a significant influence on his career, emphasizing her songwriting prowess and vocal talent.
