Lauren Alaina’s Duet Journey: From Wallen to Chase Matthew

Lauren Alaina’s New Hit “All My Exes” Surges in Popularity

Since its release in May 2025, Lauren Alaina’s latest collaboration with Chase Matthew, titled “All My Exes,” has garnered significant attention, recently reaching the Top 5 on country radio charts. However, Alaina revealed that the track could have featured a different artist entirely.

Initial Thoughts on Morgan Wallen

During her co-hosting stint on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton, Alaina shared that her original choice for a duet partner was Morgan Wallen. The reason behind this choice was their shared record label, which made Wallen a natural fit in her eyes. However, Alaina later reconsidered, stating that she wanted the song’s success to stem from its quality rather than the fame of her potential collaborator.

Alaina’s Perspective on Collaborations

She explained, “Morgan is releasing a lot of music and is a massive star. I didn’t want our hit to be solely attributed to Morgan Wallen’s name. That’s something I’ve never mentioned before.” This insight highlights Alaina’s commitment to authenticity in her music career.

The Creative Process Behind “All My Exes”

Alaina co-wrote “All My Exes” alongside Ben Johnson, Whitney Phillips, and Jimmy Gutch long before she became a wife and mother. Her husband, Cam Arnold, played a crucial role in getting the song to Chase Matthew after meeting him on tour with Jason Aldean. Arnold believed that Matthew would be the ideal fit for the duet, and his instincts proved correct as the song achieved record-breaking streaming numbers upon its debut.

Overcoming Challenges in the Music Video

In an interesting twist, Alaina revealed that during the filming of the music video, she was pregnant with her first child, a fact that remained a secret at the time. To conceal her baby bump, filmmakers cleverly restricted the camera angles to only show her from the chest up as they captured scenes of the duo singing in various settings.

Success of “All My Exes” Continues to Grow

With “All My Exes” continuing to rise in popularity on country radio, it has become a significant milestone for both Lauren Alaina and Chase Matthew. The song not only showcases their vocal talents but also highlights the importance of thoughtful collaboration in the music industry.
