Lauren Alaina has stepped in to defend rising star Stella Lefty, who recently faced a barrage of criticism following an Instagram post showcasing her stunning look at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
Stella Lefty made her debut on the VMAs red carpet, dressed exquisitely as she celebrated her nominations for Best New Artist and Best Country Song for her hit single, “Boston.” The Illinois native walked alongside her boyfriend, fellow country artist Vincent Mason, in a breathtaking wedding gown from Claire Pettibone’s fall 2015 collection. The dress featured a fitted design that flowed into a long skirt, complete with a unique mesh back adorned with delicate details. Her elegant updo was complemented by loose waves framing her face.
While many fans praised Lefty’s appearance, the comment section of her post was filled with negative feedback. Lauren Alaina, noticing the unkind remarks, decided to speak out against the online hostility. Having experienced public criticism herself, Alaina encouraged others to reconsider their words before posting hurtful comments. “The comment section is not passing the vibe check,” she expressed in her commentary.
Alaina reflected on the situation from a maternal viewpoint, sharing her sadness at the harsh treatment faced by someone in the public eye. She stated, “It makes me sad we live in a world where strangers feel it is okay to talk about someone else this way. My heart breaks thinking someone would ever talk about my daughter like this. Do better everyone.”
Lauren Alaina isn’t the only one coming to Stella Lefty’s aid. Kelsea Ballerini also recently defended Lefty after she made her Grand Ole Opry debut on September 2, which was met with negative comments questioning her qualifications for performing on such a prestigious stage. Ballerini emphasized the importance of celebrating all forms of country music, stating, “It’s about celebration of all kinds of country music—new, old, traditional, current, however you wanna say it. It’s all important, and it should all be able to be shared in our safest and most sacred stage in country music. Celebrate music like the Opry does. ❤️”
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards returned to Los Angeles for the first time since 2017, hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Peacock Theater. Before entering the venue, Lefty shared her excitement about attending the VMAs, recalling how she and her friends had watched the show together the previous year. “Me and my friends last year we actually watched, all of us together, sitting together with a huge bowl of popcorn and all the snacks. I’m just thinking about my friends now watching me here and it’s really crazy… I love you guys, wish you all were here,” she expressed, sending a heartfelt message to her friends back home.
Despite the criticism, Stella Lefty has chosen to focus on celebrating her achievements and the success that has come with her swift rise in the country music scene. So far, she has not publicly responded to the negativity, preferring to embrace her milestones with positivity.
