In a recent interview on The Bobby Bones Show, Alaina shared insights into her decision to start the album with a song featuring her brother, recounting the sweet backstory of their collaboration. “I wanted to kick off the album with a song I sing with my brother,” she said. “He has a beautiful voice and sings in his church choir every Sunday, but he’s quite shy. I’ve always been the outgoing one in the family.”
An Idea Comes to Life
Alaina revealed that Tyler had expressed interest in recording together a few years prior, even if nothing was ever released. “He told me, ‘I work at Costco and you have a label, but I’d love to record with you someday,’” she recalled. This conversation sparked the inspiration for “Babies Raising Babies,” which she originally penned about Tyler and his wife.
Meaningful Timing
The release of the song coincided with significant changes in Alaina’s own life. “I wrote it four years ago, and now I’m married and raising a baby myself, which makes the timing feel surreal,” she explained. Alaina expressed her pride in their collaboration, particularly enjoying the moment when she encourages him to sing, highlighting his talent despite his shyness.
A Tribute to Family
As the album concludes, it features “Heaven Sent,” a poignant tribute to her late father, adding an extra layer of meaning to the final chapter of STAGES.
