Kelsea Ballerini Launches Musicians On Call in Knoxville
Kelsea Ballerini celebrated the introduction of the inaugural Musicians On Call (MOC) program at Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, located in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Bringing Music to Hospitalized Children
This new initiative, made possible through Ballerini’s Feel Your Way Through Charitable Fund, aims to provide live music experiences for children and their families during hospital stays. MOC volunteers will visit patients’ rooms to create memorable moments filled with music.
A Special Performance
To kick off the program, Ballerini joined forces with MOC President and CEO Pete Griffin, as well as Adam Cook, Chief Development and Public Affairs Officer of the hospital, for a special live performance. During her set, she performed several of her popular songs, including “I Would, Would You,” “Dibs,” and “If You Go Down (I’m Going Down Too),” concluding with a heartfelt singalong of “Lean On Me.”
Personal Visits for Young Patients
For those children unable to attend the live performance, Ballerini made personal visits, delivering music directly to their hospital rooms. Having been involved with Musicians On Call for over a decade, she understands the profound impact that music can have on patients and their families. Ballerini has volunteered at various hospitals in Nashville and Phoenix, even adapting to virtual performances during the pandemic.
Recognition for Commitment
In recognition of her commitment to the program, Ballerini was honored with the Music Heals Golden Ukulele in 2024. She expressed her joy in being able to contribute to her hometown in such a meaningful way, stating, “Music meets you where you are, providing comfort and connection through life’s ups and downs.”
Acknowledgments from Musicians On Call
Griffin commended Ballerini for her unwavering dedication, highlighting how her performances uplift the spirits of patients. He also expressed gratitude for her role in establishing MOC’s first Knoxville program, ensuring that the joy she brings will resonate long after the launch event.
Ongoing Impact of the Program
The Musicians On Call program will become a regular feature at Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, offering comforting bedside visits that foster connections through music during challenging times. Adam Cook remarked on the significance of this partnership, thanking Ballerini for her contributions to creating joyful moments for patients in need.
