Kayleigh Mathews Captivates on The Voice
This week on The Voice, Kayleigh Mathews transported viewers back in time with her enchanting rendition of Patsy Cline’s classic “Walking After Midnight.” Her performance left both the audience and her coaches in awe.
A Mesmerizing Performance
With a backdrop of a starry night sky, Kayleigh’s silver sequin jumpsuit complemented the magical atmosphere of her performance. Her rich, powerful voice infused the mid-tempo song with a sense of nostalgia, perfectly echoing the essence of the 1957 hit.
Impressive Vocal Range
Taking on a song by one of country music’s legendary figures is no easy task, yet Mathews excelled. She showcased her vocal prowess while honoring the song’s traditional country roots, creating a truly unforgettable moment on stage.
Coaches’ Praise
Coach Kelly Clarkson expressed her admiration for Kayleigh’s choice of song, highlighting the distinctive qualities in her voice. “You have this beautiful yodel quality and your resonance is stunning. You truly have a gift,” Clarkson remarked.
Feedback from Riley Green
Kayleigh also received insights from her coach, Riley Green, who had a challenging decision to make that evening due to impending eliminations. He carefully evaluated each performance.
Riley commended Kayleigh’s authenticity, stating that her performance was the “best compliment” he could offer. “I love that your voice is unique, especially with the bluesy elements you add at the end of some notes. I adored everything about it. You’re fantastic,” he expressed.
Future Uncertain
Despite her captivating performance, Kayleigh Mathews did not secure an automatic spot in the Live Shows. During Cut Week, each coach selected two contestants to advance directly while the remaining five performed for the last slot, also determined by their coach.
Riley chose to advance Cade Mower and Ferryn & Brinkley, awarding the final spot to Joe Henley, leaving Kayleigh’s future uncertain.
Audience Participation
With the slots filled, viewers had the opportunity to vote for one additional artist to join the Live Top 13. The results will be revealed when The Voice airs its next episode on Monday, November 9, at 9/8c on NBC and Peacock.
