In 2012, Jordan Davis set his sights on Nashville with the ambition of achieving a No. 1 song. Fast forward to today, and he is proudly celebrating his tenth chart-topping hit with “Turn This Truck Around,” a moment he describes as incredibly fulfilling.
During an engaging conversation backstage at CMA Fest, Davis shared, “I remember moving to town just wanting one number one, and every one after that has been a true blessing. I’ve cherished this song since the day we wrote it.”
As part of the CMA Fest festivities, Davis took to the Nissan Stadium stage, a performance he holds in high regard. He expressed, “This week has been fantastic, but performing at the stadium is a dream come true that I envisioned during my first CMA Fest. It’s just as thrilling now as it was back then.” He humorously added, “I hope I don’t sweat as much as I did the first time or feel as nervous.”
Looking back, Davis reminisced about his initial performance at one of CMA Fest’s smaller venues, recalling, “I don’t even know if there were 80 people in the crowd.” His journey from humble beginnings to headlining a major festival is a testament to his growth as an artist.
This year’s CMA Fest was particularly busy for Davis, who balanced time celebrating with fans and working in the studio on his upcoming music. “We’re moving on to a new project. I’m thrilled about the songs I’ve written, and we actually just recorded our first batch yesterday,” he shared. “This week has been half CMA Fest and half studio time.”
Davis confirmed that they recorded eight songs, expressing his excitement, “Honestly, I love all eight of them.” As he embarks on this next chapter, he plans to tour throughout the summer, with family joining him for select performances.
Now an experienced performer, Davis will grace the stage at CMA Fest alongside an impressive lineup that includes Bailey Zimmerman, Blake Shelton, and many others. He commented, “I’ll be on the road pretty much all summer, and my family will come out for a couple of shows.”
This special CMA Fest event, hosted by Riley Green and Lara Spencer, is set to air on Thursday, June 25, at 8/7c on ABC, with streaming available the following day on Hulu.
