HARDY and Blake Shelton Collaborate on ‘Hell’
Country music stars HARDY and Blake Shelton have teamed up for an exciting new duet titled “Hell,” featured in HARDY’s latest four-track EP, SIDES.
A Long-Awaited Collaboration
This collaboration has been highly anticipated, following their previous partnership on Shelton’s song “Fire Up The Night” in 2021. Since then, HARDY has contributed as a co-writer for several of Shelton’s hits, including popular tracks like “God’s Country,” “Let Him In Anyway,” and “Come Back As A Country Boy.” However, this marks the first occasion where Shelton has lent his vocals on one of HARDY’s own projects.
Musical Vibe and Themes
Spanning nearly four minutes, “Hell” presents a catchy mid-tempo melody that fuses traditional country elements with a rock influence. In this feel-good anthem, both artists share lyrics that celebrate unwinding after a demanding workweek and embracing the spirit of a carefree weekend.
The duo captures the essence of lighthearted mischief, referencing backroad adventures and late-night escapades, while assuring listeners that they will still make it to church by Sunday morning, regardless of their Saturday night antics. The song conveys their belief that enjoying a wild weekend won’t jeopardize their chances of reaching heaven.
Lyrics Excerpt
In the chorus, they harmonize: “Good lord what a good life/ Out here with the mosquitos/ Laid back on the hood like Steve McQueen meets Bo Duke and Bocephus/ Whatcha know ’bout Hankin’ ’til the break of dawn…/ Let’s raise a little Hell.”
Exploring Genres in SIDES
Alongside “Hell,” each track on SIDES ventures into diverse musical styles, showcasing HARDY’s versatile artistry. The opening track “By God” incorporates gospel influences, while “King of the Hill” leans into a heavier rock sound. The EP concludes with “Tommy Made the News,” a poignant country anthem that resonates with heartfelt storytelling.
Release and Celebrations
The first single, “By God,” debuted on country radio on November 2. In celebration of the EP’s launch, HARDY performed two sold-out shows at Nashville’s new venue, The Truth, during his Halloween-themed performances. He is set to wrap up the year with a live performance during CBS’ New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash in December.
