Eric Church Honored at ACM Honors
During the 19th ACM Honors held on Wednesday night, Eric Church received recognition for his exceptional generosity. Joined by his family, which included his wife, mother, father, sister, and brother-in-law, Church took to the stage to share a moving acceptance speech about the significance of music in his life and its transformative power that drives him to give back.
Music as a Catalyst for Change
In his speech, Church reflected on how his successful music career has enabled him to assist others, especially in North Carolina, where he has contributed significantly to recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. He expressed that utilizing his platform to create positive change has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his musical journey.
The Universal Language of Music
“I truly believe that God intended music to be the universal language,” Church stated, quoting the biblical King David as a pioneer of songwriting. He emphasized the profound impact music has on people’s lives and how it can resonate universally.
Life-Changing Contributions
Church proudly announced that thanks to music, his initiatives are paving the way for a 37th family to receive a home in Western North Carolina, with plans for 41 more homes in a nearby county. He noted, “Music is changing lives, influencing their children’s futures.”
ACM Lifting Lives Award
The ACM Lifting Lives Award celebrates the legacy of Gary Haber, a former ACM Lifting Lives president and business manager. This prestigious accolade is awarded to country music artists or industry professionals who exhibit a passion for enhancing lives through music, demonstrating generous spirits and a commitment to service, as determined by the ACM Lifting Lives Board of Directors.
A Commitment to Community Support
Church was honored for his ongoing dedication to philanthropy, particularly his extensive efforts in aiding North Carolina’s recovery from Hurricane Helene. His journey began with the Concert for Carolina, co-hosted with Luke Combs to raise funds for hurricane relief. He generously donated all royalties from his song “Darkest Hour” to support affected individuals and recognized the need for sustainable support for rebuilding efforts.
Chief Cares and Housing Initiatives
Through his charitable organization, Chief Cares, founded in 2013, Church has been actively involved in community empowerment through direct assistance and long-term investments. His projects in North Carolina include Blue Haven, which aims to construct rent-free and mortgage-free homes for families in need.
Global Contributions and Recognition
Beyond local efforts, Church has contributed millions to various global causes, including orphanages in Nepal, disaster relief in Haiti, and support for no-kill animal shelters. His association with ACM Lifting Lives is significant, having participated in their 2021 public service announcement during the 56th ACM Awards.
