On the morning of September 10, the Country Music Association revealed the nominees for “The 60th Annual CMA Awards.” The announcement was made first on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and subsequently through a livestream on CMA’s official YouTube channel. Roberts, among the eager artists, tuned in to see if her name would be included in the nominations.
Captured by her husband, Chris Sasser, Roberts watched the nominations unfold from her tour bus. As Avery Anna and Carter Faith were announced as the first nominees, Roberts appeared to lose hope, expressing, “I don’t think it’s gonna be this year,” with a disappointed look.
However, her mood drastically shifted when her name was announced next. In a moment of pure joy, Roberts leaped from her seat, exclaiming, “No way!” repeatedly as she tried to grasp the reality of her achievement. Her excitement was contagious, prompting high-fives and hugs with those around her.
After a brief moment to absorb the news, Roberts switched off the camera to FaceTime her loved ones, eager to share her thrilling news with those closest to her.
Roberts is one of 13 first-time nominees this year, competing for the New Artist of the Year award alongside fellow artists Avery Anna, Carter Faith, Tucker Wetmore, and Stephen Wilson Jr.
The winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of the 60th Annual CMA Awards, set to take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 18. The event will air from 8–11 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with streaming available on Hulu the following day.
