Dolly Parton has been chosen to be awarded the 2027 Artist Humanitarian Award during the upcoming Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in 2027.
The Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB) made the announcement today, stating that the beloved country music star will be recognized posthumously at the event scheduled for March 17-19, 2027, in Nashville.
This award celebrates a “lifetime of extraordinary generosity, compassion, and service to others,” as detailed in a press release from CRB.
Parton received notification of her selection prior to her passing, making this forthcoming tribute particularly poignant as CRB prepares to honor her remarkable legacy of philanthropy.
CRS Executive Director RJ Curtis commented, “The term ‘humanitarian’ is almost synonymous with Dolly Parton. Her decades of generosity and philanthropy are well-known, and we felt privileged when she accepted this honor earlier this year. Although she won’t be physically present at CRS, her incredible spirit and steadfast commitment to enhancing lives will continue to motivate us all.”
Parton, celebrated globally for her musical talents, made an impact that transcends the stage. As a versatile entertainer, businesswoman, and philanthropist, she built a remarkable career while remaining devoted to giving back to her community. Her generous nature earned her admiration not just in the country music sphere but worldwide.
Throughout her life, Parton utilized her time, resources, and influence to assist those in need. Her numerous charitable initiatives have benefitted communities, supported families, and encouraged others to follow suit. Her legacy of giving is as significant as her musical contributions.
One of the most notable examples of her philanthropic commitment is the Imagination Library, which she founded in 1995 in her home county in East Tennessee. This program aims to provide young children with access to books, fostering early literacy. What began as a local initiative has blossomed into a global movement, distributing millions of free books to children and their families.
Through the Dollywood Foundation and her philanthropy, Parton has championed various causes, including education, healthcare, disaster relief, and medical research. Her support has been crucial for communities facing hardships, particularly for those affected by devastating wildfires in East Tennessee. From creating educational opportunities to funding medical research, Parton has continually leveraged her success to uplift others.
The Artist Humanitarian Award was established in 1990 to honor country artists whose contributions to philanthropy have significantly impacted their communities. Over the years, notable recipients have included Jelly Roll, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, and Carrie Underwood, among many others.
