The romantic tale of Cole Swindell and his wife Courtney began with a fleeting encounter at a NASCAR event, followed by a collaborative music video. However, it took years for their relationship to evolve into romance.
First Impressions and Age Gap Concerns
When they finally started dating, Courtney revealed she had significant concerns about their age difference. In a recent interview on the iHeart podcast Married To The Music, she opened up about her initial hesitation and her family’s reaction to the news.
At the time of their first meeting, Courtney was working as a Monster Energy Girl. She and Cole maintained contact over the years, and in 2021, he invited her to star in his music video for “Some Habits.” Following the shoot, they enjoyed drinks together, allowing Courtney to learn more about him.
Discovering Cole’s True Character
Now 27, Courtney initially felt uncertainty about Cole, who is 43, due to his celebrity status. She admitted, “To be completely honest, I didn’t know how he was going to be, thinking he might not be the nicest guy because he’s in the spotlight. But as soon as I started talking to him, I realized he was incredibly sweet and kind.” She appreciated how he treated service staff, considering it a significant positive trait.
Realizing the Age Gap
Aside from her concerns about his celebrity life, Courtney was caught off guard by their 15-year age difference. “Looking back, I should have Googled his age. I thought he was just in his 30s until we were at the bar. When he revealed his age, I was shocked. I worried about telling my dad, thinking he’d react with disbelief,” she recounted.
Family Acceptance
Despite her initial worries, Courtney soon recognized Cole’s good heart. When she finally discussed her concerns with her family, her father’s first question was whether Cole treated her well. Her response was a confident “yes.”
“I told him, ‘If you meet him, you’ll love him,’” Courtney shared. Her father became a fan, often listening to Cole’s music and watching his videos.
A Growing Family
After meeting Cole, both her dad and sister became fans, just as Courtney had anticipated. “They were obsessed with him. How could they not be?” she said with a smile.
The couple celebrated their love in a small wedding on June 12, 2024, in Sonoma, California, and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rainey Gail Swindell, on August 7, 2025.
