A Reflective Moment

In the days following the funeral, Janson took to social media to express his feelings about the opportunity to celebrate the life of such a cherished icon in country music. A Song Written for a Hero

He revealed that he penned an original song for Anderson shortly after hearing the news of his death, making the performance at the funeral all the more significant.

“I would have never imagined singing a song for one of my heroes at his funeral. The night we learned of his passing, I stepped onto the back porch and wrote him a song. His family requested that I perform it at his service,” Janson explained. “That moment will forever be etched in my heart as one of the most humbling honors of my life.”

Honoring a Legacy

Janson concluded his heartfelt tribute by urging his followers to keep Anderson’s “wonderful” family in their thoughts and to enjoy some of Anderson’s classic tunes.

The “Wild Horses” singer shared a collection of photos that highlighted memories shared with Anderson, including a moment during a fishing trip in Islamorada, Florida, where the country legend recounted stories about Mack Vickery and Merle Kilgore.

“John Anderson was not just a hunting and fishing buddy; he was a mentor, a brother, and a fellow Bass Pro enthusiast. An incredible man, truly an outlaw…He was the real deal. Rest easy, my friend, and thank you for the joyous times and days spent together. No one will ever fill John’s shoes.”

A Final Farewell

Janson ended his tribute with a touching expression of love for Anderson, emphasizing how profoundly he and his family would miss their friend.

“Keep on swinging, and I’m grateful that Jesus gets to welcome The Black Sheep of The Family. ❤️🙌,” he concluded.
