On July 14, Chris Janson took to the streets of downtown Nashville, marking a significant milestone in his music career that spans over 20 years. This unforgettable performance was part of the CONNECT Conference and attracted thousands of fans, effectively shutting down a section of Broadway.
Janson’s journey began in 2004 when he moved to Nashville after completing high school in Perryville, Missouri. At just 18, he was eager to pursue his musical ambitions. In those early days, he often slept in his car in the back of a honky-tonk, dreaming of the day he would make his mark on the music scene.
Returning to the very streets where he once struggled, Janson expressed gratitude and humility during his performance. “I remember my first nights in Nashville, sleeping in my Monte Carlo behind Tootsies. Last night was a reminder of the American Dream,” he shared emotionally on stage. He acknowledged the journey from performing in bars to having Broadway closed down for him, expressing his appreciation for the support he’s received.
Currently, Janson is climbing the country radio charts with his latest single, “Fight For A Girl,” from his album Wild Horses. The song showcases his deep affection for his wife, Kelly, telling the story of a man determined to protect and cherish his love. With energetic melodies and heartfelt lyrics, it resonates with anyone who values true connection.
“Then out of the blue/ Baby, there was you/ I didn’t know what to say/ I didn’t know what to do…” the chorus highlights the instinct to fight for love.
Recently, Janson released an alternate version of “Fight For A Girl,” which he co-wrote with Blake Bollinger, Thomas Archer, and Michael Tyler. This version offers a more introspective take on the original, showcasing a different sound that fans have embraced. “I’m super excited to have this song at country radio! It’s been a fan favorite out on tour,” he remarked.
Fans can catch Janson performing live as he continues his headlining tour into the fall, where they can enjoy both versions of his popular single.
