Following the launch of her latest album, Honest Woman, Carly Pearce is captivating audiences with her new music video for “Same Circus.” This visually striking video brings to life her poignant song about the experience of being trapped in a cycle of relationships, where each new partner feels like just another clown in a never-ending circus.
The music video features Pearce in the midst of a lively circus, surrounded by a colorful array of performers, including a tarot card reader, a juggler, and stilt walkers entertaining the audience. The narrative focuses on Pearce as she navigates a series of romantic entanglements, each leading her back to familiar heartache, symbolized by the transformation of her lovers into clowns.
Using the circus as a metaphor for her tumultuous love life, Pearce reflects on her journey of seeking new relationships, only to find herself confronting the same issues over and over again, ultimately landing back in the same emotional space with a “different clown.”
In the song, she poignantly sings, “Same stage, different show / Different cowboy, same damn rodeo / Oh, I shoulda known / Different boots, different names / They all break my heart the same / ’Fore they pack up to skip to the next town / Same circus, different clown.” These lyrics encapsulate the frustration and realization of repeating the same patterns in love.
Written by Pearce along with Lauren Hungate, Jordan Reynolds, and Emily Weisband, “Same Circus” is a highlight from the 16-track album, which also includes her popular single “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” featuring Riley Green, along with other fan favorites like “Happy For Myself” and “You Can Have Him.”
In just a few days, Pearce will kick off her “Honest Woman: Up Close” tour, bringing her new music to fans across the nation. She shared her vision for the tour, emphasizing the importance of storytelling and connection with her audience. “I wanted this album to feel special, reflecting the most authentic moments of my life,” she stated. The limited shows will span from September 10 to October 22, giving fans a chance to experience her music in a more intimate setting.
With the support of Belle Frantz, this tour promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.
