Carly Pearce Embraces Vulnerability in New Song

Carly Pearce’s Personal Journey with “Happy For Myself”

Carly Pearce is sharing insights into one of her most intimate tracks to date, titled “Happy For Myself.” This latest song provides a glimpse into her authentic emotions as it serves as a precursor to her upcoming album, Honest Woman, which is set to be released on August 28.

A Story of Mixed Emotions

This heartfelt song, co-written by Pearce along with Lauren Hungate, Jordan Reynolds, and Emily Weisband, narrates a poignant moment that was meant to be joyful yet unexpectedly overwhelmed her with feelings she didn’t anticipate.

Engagement Ring Shopping

The lyrics reflect a significant experience where a friend invited her to assist in selecting an engagement ring, asking for her opinion on choosing between platinum and yellow gold. While Pearce offers support for her friend’s important decision, she grapples with her own emotions, suppressing the lump in her throat to focus on someone else’s happiness.

Musical Composition

Accompanied by gentle guitar melodies and minimalist production, the song highlights Pearce’s tender vocals as she navigates the complex feelings of wanting to celebrate a friend’s joy while also yearning for her own happiness. At its core, the track poses a heartfelt question: “When do I get to be happy for myself?”

Vulnerability in Songwriting

Reflecting on the raw vulnerability of the story, Pearce expressed her deep connection to “Happy For Myself.” She shared her surprise at the emotions that surfaced during that moment, explaining, “The overwhelming feeling of envy for what she had… comparison is something that, especially as women, can really get to you.” This track, she believes, represents a significant leap in her emotional openness.

Upcoming Album and Tour

The release of “Happy For Myself” comes just weeks ahead of her new 16-track project. Co-produced with her long-time collaborator Ben West, Honest Woman is anticipated to showcase Pearce embracing all facets of her identity and journey. The album features collaborations with notable artists like Riley Green, Dan Tyminski, and Molly Tuttle.

Album Release Celebration

To commemorate the launch of Honest Woman, Pearce will host an album release performance at the Grand Ole Opry on August 29. Following this, she is set to embark on her “Honest Woman: Up Close” tour, sponsored by Conundrum Wines, which will bring intimate performances to various cities in North America starting September 10, beginning with a two-night event in Detroit and continuing through cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, and New York City.
