Overcoming Jealousy
Pearce candidly admitted that although their friendship blossomed quickly, she initially felt a pang of jealousy towards Ballerini after learning that she had secured a record deal while Pearce was still an independent artist striving for the same goal. “I didn’t like her at first because she had a record deal and I didn’t. I was like, ‘who’s this girl that’s 19 and already getting a record deal?’” Pearce recalled.
A Safe Haven
However, that jealousy faded as Pearce realized the supportive nature of their relationship. “We’ve been through a lot together. I know I can go to her, and she’s going to understand and vice versa. There are very few people who comprehend what we experience in this industry, and I always feel seen by her. I love her,” Pearce expressed.

Their close friendship has naturally translated into their musical endeavors as well. The duo collaborated with Kelly Clarkson on the song “You’re Drunk, Go Home,” showcasing the strong bond they have cultivated behind the scenes.

Pearce reflected on the challenges of finding genuine friendships in the music industry: “It’s hard to find people. In my experience, it has been hard for me to find real friends, and hers as well. What I have with her is truly special, and I don’t need anyone else.” The friendship that began between two young women has evolved into a deep and lasting connection.

Pearce emphasized her newfound intentionality in appreciating life’s moments—both in her career and personal relationships. “I think I’m more aware now of what is important to me. My shows are better because I’m more present, and my relationships outside of music are richer because I care and I’m actively taking care of that side of my life for the first time. I think you can have both,” she said.

Much of her renewed joy stems from her latest album, Honest Woman, which reignited her passion for music. “I found the joy again. It’s my favorite music I’ve ever made. I’m having more fun on stage now than when I was female vocalist of the year. I found fulfillment again,” Pearce shared.

As she moves forward—whether receiving accolades or not—Carly Pearce is determined to refuse mediocrity and continuously strive for excellence. “It’s been a minute since I’ve seen number one on the chart. Not all my shows are always full. But I guarantee that I work hard to raise the bar and focus on what I can control. At the end of the day, I know I’ve made the best record I’ve ever created,” she concluded.
