Brandy Neelly discovered her passion for music at a young age, nurtured by her grandfather’s encouragement and the influence of iconic ’90s country female artists. Her journey began in Kentucky and took her to Nashville, where she spent eight years honing her craft before showcasing her talent on Season 30 of The Voice.
During her Blind Audition on The Voice, Brandy wowed the audience with an electrifying performance of Jo Dee Messina’s “Lesson In Leavin’.” The 31-year-old singer drew interest from both Riley Green and Queen Latifah, ultimately selecting Team Riley to remain connected to her country roots.
Brandy advanced to the Battle Rounds, where she faced off against the sister duo Ferryn and Brinkley. Although she did not proceed further, her experience on the show has fueled her determination to pursue her dreams, now with a growing fanbase cheering her on. She plans to release new music while also managing her cake-decorating business, which serves as a creative outlet.
Brandy’s musical journey began at the age of nine during a car ride in Florida with her grandfather, where she sang along to Martina McBride. This moment sparked her involvement in numerous performances across Kentucky and Tennessee, singing songs from legends like Tammy Wynette and Gretchen Wilson.
With a desire to write her own songs, Brandy moved to Nashville after graduating from Western Kentucky University. She frequently traveled to Nashville for songwriting opportunities while managing her studies. Her ambition led her to chase her dreams in the heart of country music.
When approached by a producer from The Voice, Brandy felt it was the right moment to audition. She aimed to connect with a larger audience and share her passion for music on a grand platform.
Brandy carefully selected Jo Dee Messina’s song for her audition to connect with her roots in ’90s country music. She aimed to bring her unique energy to the performance while showcasing her vocal talent, leading to chair turns from both Riley and Queen Latifah.
Experiencing the thrill of both Riley and Queen turning their chairs for her was a surreal moment. While nervous at first, she channeled that energy into performing confidently, hoping to impress the coaches further as her song progressed.
Brandy’s decision to join Team Riley stemmed from her lifelong passion for country music and the desire to learn from a prominent figure in the industry. Although Queen Latifah was also an appealing choice, Brandy felt a strong connection to Riley and his coaching style.
Brandy’s baking skills led to an unexpected connection with Riley Green when she baked a cake for his birthday. This unique experience showcased her creativity beyond music and further solidified her bond with the country star.
As she moves forward, Brandy is committed to continuing her music career while also maintaining her baking business. She looks forward to releasing new music and connecting with her fans, excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Brandy Neelly’s journey is just beginning, and she remains eager to share her music with the world. With plans for new releases and a dedication to her craft, she is ready to embrace the next chapter of her career.
