On a memorable Monday night, country superstar Brad Paisley treated a fortunate group of fans to an unexpected show at the renowned Whiskey Jam event. The artist took the stage at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row bar, located on Broadway in Nashville, delivering an electrifying 45-minute performance.
Since its inception in 2011, Whiskey Jam has evolved into a beloved weekly gathering for up-and-coming artists to display their talents within the vibrant Nashville music scene. Occasionally, major artists like Paisley drop by to surprise attendees with impromptu performances.
During his surprise appearance, Paisley ignited a massive sing-along as he played several beloved hits from his extensive catalog. The event also served as a celebration for the release of his latest project, Tacklebox – Disc 1.
One of the highlights of the night was when Paisley invited fellow songwriter and artist David Lee Murphy onto the stage. Together, they performed their newly released collaboration, “Hi Ho Silverado,” which they co-wrote alongside Clint Lagerberg. The energetic duo followed this with Murphy’s classic 1994 hit, “Dust On The Bottle,” keeping the audience engaged and lively.
Paisley’s surprise set occurred shortly after the launch of his new 13-track collection, allowing him to celebrate the moment with his fans. He describes this project as filled with catchy melodies and country music hooks, which inspired its title.
The album features a blend of long-lost songs from the early days of his career, along with fresh tracks that reflect the golden era of country music. Paisley channels the sounds of legendary artists like Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, and Alabama, while also incorporating 80s-inspired elements reminiscent of George Strait and Garth Brooks.
In his own words, Paisley expressed, “In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. There was such freedom in rediscovering the songs for ‘Tacklebox,’ the new ones we wrote, and the order we released them.” He aimed to evoke the nostalgic experience of listening to a complete album, encouraging fans to enjoy the music from start to finish.
Fans first caught a glimpse of the project on May 11, with additional tracks rolling out over the following months. Now, Tacklebox – Disc 1 is complete, boasting the final three tracks: “Who Knew,” “Tell Them Your Life Story,” and “It’s Still Goodbye.” Brad Paisley is set to hit the road soon for his “Brad Paisley Live” Tour, starting on August 27, alongside special guests like Jake Worthington and Laci Kaye Booth.
