Bobby Bones Issues Apology Over Shane Gillis’ SNL Remarks

Bobby Bones’ Apology on Social Media

Bobby Bones recently took to Instagram to express his regret after making comments about Shane Gillis’ contentious monologue on Saturday Night Live without fully viewing the entire segment.

Gillis’ Controversial Remarks

During his SNL segment, Gillis made provocative statements regarding women’s gym attire. He remarked, “I haven’t been to the gym in so long I didn’t realize women dress like whores now.” He elaborated further, describing the bright colors of gym shorts as resembling artificial bait, while also humorously criticizing their fit.

Bones’ Initial Reaction

In a now-deleted TikTok, Bones shared that he found Gillis’ comments amusing, particularly the comparison to fishing lures. He suggested that those who didn’t appreciate the joke may not be familiar with Southern culture or fishing.

Addressing the Backlash

After facing criticism, the award-winning radio personality acknowledged that he had “missed the mark.” Bones clarified, “I only saw the joke about the athletic wear and thought it was funny, but the ensuing controversy was not something I anticipated. Initially, I had no plans to address it publicly; I just wanted to let it go.”

Learning from the Incident

Bones admitted that his wife pointed out that his comments might have been misinterpreted, prompting him to take responsibility. He said, “I’m here to say, ‘I messed up.’ I should have watched the full monologue and thought more before I posted my thoughts.”

Final Thoughts

Reflecting on the situation, Bones recognized that he had learned a significant lesson. “I’ve realized that I need to be more thoughtful in the future. I sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding this has caused.”

Wider Reactions

In light of Gillis’ comments, many public figures, including singer Maren Morris, have spoken out against the monologue. Morris highlighted the issue with a video on Instagram, expressing her discontent with the remarks made about women’s gym shorts.
