Blake Whiten is excited to share his personal journey with the release of his first album, Something To Say. Launched under Enchntmnt/Warner Records, this 12-track compilation is the culmination of over two years of dedicated songwriting. At just 21 years old, Blake collaborated with notable Nashville and Los Angeles songwriters, including Bailey Zimmerman, JKash, Ben Johnson, Taylor Phillips, Hunter Phelps, and Erik Dylan, contributing as a co-writer for every track.
Produced by Austin Shawn, Something To Say merges Blake’s authentic Southern heritage with a vibrant country-rock style influenced by the music legends he grew up admiring, such as Keith Whitley, Alan Jackson, AC/DC, Creed, Nickelback, Buckcherry, HARDY, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Originating from Six Mile, South Carolina, Blake’s passion for music blossomed in his small community. He draws inspiration from the experiences and values of his upbringing, which are woven throughout his album. The memories from his early days, starting with his first guitar at age seven, resonate in every song.
Despite his rising fame, highlighted by a debut on the TODAY show and upcoming tours with Bailey Zimmerman and Morgan Wallen, Blake remains deeply rooted in his hometown. Shortly after his album’s release, he returned to Six Mile to host a community event, offering free gas and food at the local station, culminating in a heartfelt truck-bed performance accompanied by barbecue and fireworks.
In a recent interview, Blake expressed his excitement about making his television debut on the TODAY show. “I’m super excited. Definitely a little nervous, but more so just thrilled to perform,” he stated. He shared that the album title, Something To Say, emerged organically during the creative process, reflecting his desire to communicate his story through music.
Blake explained that the songs on the album have been close companions for the last two years, allowing listeners to understand his identity. The collection opens with the track “This Bar Is My Friend,” which he describes as a powerful introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the album.
Blake’s collaborations with artists like Bailey Zimmerman add depth to his music. He reminisced about their shared songwriting experiences, highlighting how the song “Barely Getting By” came together over time, showcasing their bond and creativity.
As he prepares for his headlining Something To Say Tour this fall, Blake promises an emotional journey through his performances, mixing moments of sadness and joy. He views upcoming shows with Morgan Wallen as a significant milestone, considering it a full-circle moment in his career.
Blake’s commitment to giving back to his community remains strong, as he continues to support those in his hometown. The warmth of his community’s support fuels his passion as he prepares for an exciting future in music.
