Billy Ray Cyrus Supports Miley’s Name Change: A New Chapter

Billy Ray Cyrus Comments on Miley’s Name Change

Miley Cyrus has officially chosen to remove her well-known last name, and her father, the country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus, has shared his thoughts on this significant decision.

Instagram Reflections from Billy Ray

In a recent post on Instagram, the singer of “Some Gave All” expressed his perspective on Miley’s choice to go by just her first name, likening it to legendary artists such as Elvis and Cher, who are famously recognized by a single moniker.

A Personal Touch

Alongside a nostalgic family photo, Billy Ray reflected on his identity and how he has always addressed his children. He stated, “Family means more than ever now. I always called my little girl Miley. Just … Miley. Just like I always called my little boy Braison.” He humorously added that prior to his breakout hit “Achy Breaky Heart” in 1992, he was simply known as CYRUS.

A Natural Evolution for Icons

He continued to share that he had a conversation with Miley about her decision to adopt her first name professionally. “I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned icons like Dolly and Cher. The more I think about it, names like Elvis and Prince come to mind. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues!”

Excitement for Miley’s Future Projects

Billy Ray also expressed his enthusiasm for Miley’s forthcoming album, indicating that he is eagerly anticipating its release. He concluded his post with a lighthearted joke about his own stage name, saying, “Now … if only Mercury / Polygram would have just not insisted on the ‘Billy Ray’ part and just let me be CYRUS… I could have done something!!! Ha ha !!! 🤣 All good.”

Miley’s New Album Announcement

This discussion follows Miley’s recent professional rebranding, during which she decided to forgo “Cyrus” in her name ahead of unveiling her new album. The singer has announced her 10th studio album titled “BASS PERSUADES,” set to be released on September 18. In addition to the album, Miley also disclosed plans for two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October.
