Belle Frantz’s passion for music blossomed in her grandfather’s workshop, where she was tasked with selecting country CDs to play. Those afternoons spent harmonizing with legends like Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn laid the foundation for her deep appreciation of country music. The discovery of Reba McEntire as a child ignited her ambition to forge a career in music.
At just 23 years old, the Mississippi native is making her mark in Nashville while remaining true to her roots. She secured her first major record deal at 20, releasing several traditional country songs. However, it was her gospel hymns on TikTok that resonated with a new audience, recalling the joy of singing in church with her grandparents.
The enthusiastic response from her fans propelled her to expand her initial recordings into a comprehensive 17-track debut album titled Hymns From A Barstool. This project features collaborations with Frantz’s idols, including Reba McEntire and Wynonna Judd, alongside contributions from Ashley Monroe, Meg McRee, Larry Strickland, and Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town.
Produced by Gena Johnson, Hymns From A Barstool intertwines Frantz’s personal narrative with themes of faith, family, and the transformative power of music. The album showcases a different facet of her artistry while honoring the country roots that initially drew her to Nashville.
Frantz faced challenges after relocating to Nashville, including navigating the pressures of a new environment. She experienced panic attacks as she adjusted to her new life but eventually embraced her excitement and settled into her new city. Now, Nashville feels like home.
Frantz’s venture into gospel music was inspired by her cherished memories of singing hymns with her grandparents. She initially hesitated, fearing the Nashville music scene might not embrace her direction. However, after posting hymns on TikTok and receiving a positive response, she felt compelled to explore this genre further.
Wynonna Judd was the first major artist to contribute to her album, which began as a simple EP but evolved into a full album after Frantz’s interactions within the industry. This led her to approach Reba McEntire as well, who enthusiastically agreed to participate.
While touring with Carly Pearce, Frantz received valuable advice about staying true to herself as an artist. Pearce emphasized the importance of following one’s instincts, especially regarding artistic expression.
Belle Frantz continues to captivate audiences with her authentic sound and relatable lyrics. As she navigates her burgeoning career, fans can anticipate more heartfelt music from this rising star.
