As anticipation builds for the launch of her self-titled sophomore album, Ashley Cooke is stirring up excitement among her fans with the reveal of the album’s track list.
This week, Cooke shared the 15-song track list for ashley cooke, set to be released on August 14 through Big Loud Records/Back Blocks Music. Instead of a standard graphic presentation, she took a creative approach by showcasing the list on the back of a denim jacket adorned with unique patches, each symbolizing a track from the album. The jacket also features embroidered elements that offer hints about the songs, including gold stars, a wine glass, and silhouettes representing California and Florida.
The album includes her current radio single, “baby blues,” which debuted on June 22 and quickly became one of the most-added songs on country radio, gaining 70 station adds on Mediabase. Fans will also recognize previously released songs such as “the hell you are,” “high horse,” and “xs.”
Cooke collaborated with some of Nashville’s acclaimed songwriters, including Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, Ashley Gorley, Hillary Lindsey, and GRAMMY-nominated JP Saxe, co-writing every track on the album.
In an interview with Country Now, Cooke expressed her pride in the project, stating it captures her essence more genuinely than any of her previous work. “It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been working on it for a while, and it feels like the most authentic representation of myself to date. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it,” she shared.
She also teamed up once again with award-winning producer Dann Huff. Cooke described the music as embodying a “coastal country” sound that reflects her upbringing and personality. “Being from California and Florida, I have that beach girl vibe. The music I’m creating, including future projects, will all carry that coastal essence because it’s part of who I am. But it also incorporates traditional country storytelling and lyrics,” she added. “That’s why I chose to name the album Ashley Cooke—it genuinely feels like me.”
The album will be available on August 14 through Big Loud Records/Back Blocks Music.
