Directed by Josh Erb, the music video opens with Cooke enjoying a sunny day by the pool with her friends. She soon catches the attention of a bartender, portrayed by Rife, leading to an undeniable chemistry between the two.
As the sun shines down, Rife momentarily abandons his bartending duties to steal glances at Cooke. Their connection intensifies, culminating in a playful moment where Cooke follows him into a nearby poolhouse as the party begins to wind down.
Inside the poolhouse, Rife lifts Cooke onto the counter, and they share a passionate kiss. However, their romantic moment is cut short when Cooke’s friends discover them, signaling the end of their flirtation and the party.
This music video marks a reunion for Cooke and Rife, who previously performed together during CMA Fest. Cooke brought Rife on stage at Billboard Country Live for a rendition of “baby blues,” continuing her tradition of inviting fans with baby-blue eyes to sing the song’s final verse. This track has gained immense popularity, recently topping SiriusXM The Highway’s Hot 30 Countdown.
Featured on Cooke’s self-titled sophomore album released in August, “baby blues” has already garnered over 63 million global streams. During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly & Mark, co-host Kelly Ripa embraced the song’s theme by adorning a baby blue outfit and playfully commented, “By the way, I’m on brand, right?”
Ashley Cooke’s baby blues world tour resumes tonight, September 24, in New York City at Irving Plaza. This 28-date tour will continue until February 25, concluding at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Highlights include stops at renowned venues like Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club on September 18 and Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on October 8, as well as a performance at London’s Koko on January 29.
