This December marks a significant milestone for Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise Jackson, as they celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary. To commemorate their enduring love, Jackson has released a heartfelt country cover of Orleans’ classic hit, “Still The One.”
The new rendition of “Still The One” comes just before Jackson’s final performance, which is scheduled for June 27 at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. While this concert marks the end of his touring career, it suggests that Jackson may still have more music in store for his fans.
The original version of “Still The One” was recorded by Orleans in 1976, the same year Alan and Denise began dating. In a recent Instagram video, Jackson shared the heartfelt memories tied to this song.
Reflecting on their early days, Jackson reminisced, “50 years ago in 1976, in Newnan, Georgia, I started dating this young girl. She was a cheerleader at Newnan High School.” He fondly remembers watching Denise practice her cheer routine to “Still The One,” a hit song that summer. Their relationship blossomed quickly, leading to marriage just three years later. Jackson asserts that to this day, Denise remains “still the one” for him.
In honor of their long-lasting bond, Jackson entered the studio to create a country-inspired version of the song, which he gifted to Denise for her birthday. He expressed how the song evokes cherished memories of their early days together.
The emotional track serves as a tribute to their remarkable relationship, which has only grown stronger over time. Jackson’s rich baritone voice conveys a powerful message, celebrating their commitment to each other. With lyrics highlighting their enduring affection, he sings, “You’re still the one that makes me laugh/ Still the one that’s my better half.”
Throughout their journey together, Denise has been a steadfast partner, supporting Jackson through various challenges, including his battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which he publicly revealed in 2019. His efforts to raise awareness for the condition have led to significant donations to the CMT Research Foundation.
As Jackson prepares to retire from touring, his farewell concert, titled Alan Jackson’s Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale, is set for June 27, 2026. The event will feature an impressive lineup of artists, celebrating over 35 years of his remarkable career.
Jackson expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from fans, stating, “I appreciate all the people that have come to my shows and supported me over the years.” With over 55,000 tickets sold in record time, fans from various countries secured their spots for this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
