Lauren Alaina Remembers Her Father on His Birthday

Lauren Alaina’s Touching Tribute to Her Father

On what would have been her father J.J. Suddeth’s birthday, Lauren Alaina shared a heartfelt moment with her daughter, Beni Doll, honoring his memory.

Beni’s Visit to Her Grandfather’s Gravesite

In a recent Instagram post, the country music star posted several photos and a video depicting her young daughter at her grandfather’s gravesite. Dressed in a charming pink onesie with her name stitched on it, Beni waved and blew kisses to the man she never had the chance to know.

Emotional Message to Her Dad

Alongside the touching images, Alaina expressed her feelings for her father. She mentioned that she and Beni sang to him, and the one-year-old even uttered “Pawpaw” during their visit.

She wrote, “Happy Birthday, Daddy. I hope you heard us singing for you. I hope you heard Beni say Pawpaw. I miss you so much. I love you.”

Support from Friends and Followers

Alaina’s post received an outpouring of love and support from friends and followers, many of whom took the time to wish her father a happy birthday.

Remembering J.J. Suddeth

J.J. Suddeth passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2024, at the age of 52. Alaina shared the sad news on Instagram, saying, “We lost my daddy last night, and I really have no words yet.” The circumstances surrounding his death have not been publicly disclosed.

Life After Loss

Following her father’s sudden passing, Alaina discovered she was pregnant just weeks later. She and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their daughter on June 11, 2025. Although Beni will never meet her grandfather, Alaina is committed to ensuring that her daughter knows about the legacy he left behind.

Open Discussions on Sobriety

Alaina has been candid about her father’s struggles with sobriety and their family’s experiences. In October 2025, she reflected on what would have been his 13th year of sobriety, acknowledging the challenges he faced.

“Today would’ve been his 13th year of sobriety if he had made it. He passed away a little over a year ago, but he didn’t make it to his 12th year either,” she shared, highlighting the importance of seeking help for addiction.

Continuing His Legacy

Despite their complicated relationship, Alaina grew closer to her father before his death, drawing inspiration from him for her music. In 2017, she released the deeply personal song “Doin’ Fine,” which addressed her parents’ divorce and her father’s struggles. In June 2021, they performed together at the Grand Ole Opry, celebrating family bonds.

Through the highs and lows, Lauren Alaina continues to cherish her father’s impact on her life and keeps his memory alive.
