Tucker Wetmore recently disclosed that he initially intended to launch a full-length album this year. However, as his career progressed and life became more hectic, he found himself unable to produce the album he envisioned.

Rather than hastily putting together an album, Wetmore opted for a more fitting alternative: a summer mixtape. With the release of his six-track Sunburn Mixtape, he could still offer fans a collection of songs while hinting at the musical direction he aims to pursue in the future.
Thoughts on the Mixtape
“To be honest, I had been working towards an album for a long time, but this year has been overwhelming. I realized I wasn’t in the right mental space for that project,” Wetmore shared with Country Now and other media. “I wanted to provide my fans with quality music while ensuring I was personally proud of it. This mixtape allowed me to achieve that.”
Inspiration Behind the Music
Wetmore expressed his affinity for summer vibes, stating, “I love the beach and sunshine, so creating this mixtape was a natural choice. I selected a few songs that fit lyrically and sonically into the new world I’m trying to build.”
Release Details
Released on July 31 through Back Blocks Music/MCA/Mercury Records, the mixtape features three previously loved tracks and three brand new songs. Listeners can enjoy a lighthearted soundtrack with tracks including Wetmore’s country radio hit “Who Told You That,” “Sunburn,” and “Proving Me Right.”
Fun and Lighthearted Vibes
When curating the mixtape, Wetmore aimed to create an enjoyable and carefree listening experience. “The songs are all about having fun. Music should be lighthearted, and I feel like we nailed that with this mixtape,” he stated.

Fans will also find three new songs: “Crazy To Yourself,” “98%,” and “YOURS.” During a recent celebration of his number one hit, “Brunette,” Wetmore shared insights about these new additions.
Exploring New Themes
In “98%,” he collaborated with writers during a retreat in Arizona, crafting a playful narrative. The song cleverly presents the idea that not all good girls are perfect, showcasing Wetmore’s unique storytelling style.
For “YOURS,” he drew on relatable imagery of small-town life to express emotions, moving away from conventional love song themes. “It’s about capturing moments that resonate with ‘good old boys,’” he explained.
Looking Ahead
All six tracks collectively embody the laid-back, feel-good essence Wetmore aimed to capture, while also hinting at his evolving sound. As he gears up for the second leg of his Brunette World Tour this September, Wetmore will also join Brooks & Dunn for select performances, including a special event at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on September 12.
