Honoring George Jones on His 95th Birthday
Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones will be celebrated in style on what would have been his 95th birthday with a special event at The Nashville Palace.
Event Details
Titled “The Possum’s 95th Birthday Celebration,” this tribute is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, starting at 4 p.m. A lineup of artists, yet to be revealed, will gather in the Randy Travis Room of the venue to pay homage to Jones’ lasting legacy and commemorate this special occasion.
A Personal Touch from Nancy Jones
Nancy Jones, the widow of George Jones, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “George Jones remains one of the most beloved country music singers of all time and I could not let this birthday milestone go by and not celebrate.” She explained that while George’s actual birthday falls on the 12th, having the event on Sunday allows more friends who are touring to attend. “Those who get tickets are going to love this show! So many of George’s friends are coming to celebrate with us,” she added.
Charitable Aspects of the Celebration
The birthday celebration will also serve a charitable purpose, benefiting Concerts 4 A Cause and The George Jones Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). This initiative aims to continue Jones’ legacy by supporting both charitable projects and aspiring musicians.
Supporting Music Education
Josh Bleidt, founder of Concerts 4 A Cause, mentioned, “We’ve had the opportunity to work with Nancy before, helping raise money for two officers and their families following the tragic ambush in Huntsville, Alabama. When this opportunity arose, it aligned perfectly with our main goal—supporting music education. We’re honored to work alongside Nancy again, celebrate George’s incredible legacy, and invest in the next generation of songwriters.”
Details of the Ticket Sales
Nancy stressed the importance of the event’s charitable impact, noting that proceeds will support Concerts 4 A Cause and The George Jones Scholarship at MTSU, which includes a class on George’s life and music. “I want to ensure George’s legacy continues through the next generation,” she stated.
Tickets will go on sale to the public starting Wednesday, August 12, 2026. General admission will be priced at $50, with only 400 available. Rail seating will be offered at $75, while VIP tables for four will start from $1,000. Those interested in sponsorship-level VIP tables can reach out to Josh at josh@concerts4acause.org.
