Ben Gallaher Unveils Acoustic Project ‘Taylor Gold’

Ben Gallaher Releases ‘Taylor Gold’ Acoustic Project

Ben Gallaher has introduced a new way for fans to enjoy a curated selection of his previously released songs with his latest project, Ben Gallaher: Taylor Gold. Launched on August 7, this collection features acoustic renditions of six tracks from his second album, Time, alongside a unique interpretation of one of his most popular hits.

Returning to Acoustic Roots

The motivation to revisit these songs in an acoustic format came instinctively for Gallaher, who reflects on his beginnings as an acoustic guitarist before transitioning to electric. His long-standing admiration for Taylor Guitars further fueled his creativity, especially after he became enamored with the new Taylor Gold Label model, stating he “couldn’t put that guitar down.”

Organic Creative Process

“It wasn’t just another guitar. It was more than just wood. This instrument sparked my creativity,” Gallaher explained. He began playing songs from his Time album, leading to the idea of re-recording some tracks in a more acoustic style. The entire process felt natural, and the team decided to capture a handful of songs in this fresh format.

Collaboration with Producers

With the collaboration of producers Neil and Patrick Thrasher, Gallaher returned to the studio, diving deep into the essence of each song. He learned that simplicity was key when it came to acoustic arrangements. Instead of overcomplicating the sound with layers of guitars, they focused on what each song truly required.

Stripped-Back Arrangements

“We aimed to honor the song’s integrity, which sometimes meant removing parts. If there was a distinctive element that could be replicated, we would, but other times I had to create something entirely new to fit the acoustic vibe,” he shared.

Reimagining Familiar Melodies

As he immersed himself in this project, Gallaher found joy in breathing new life into his first acoustic endeavor. The finished products retained their original melodies while offering a fresh emotional experience through stripped-back arrangements.

Choosing the Right Tracks

Deciding which songs to include was straightforward; he selected tracks that resonated with him and ones he loved performing on his Taylor Gold guitar. The compilation mainly draws from his Time album, featuring popular tracks like “I’ll Take You,” the romantic “Betcha Money,” and the viral success “Stomp.” A notable addition is “Still a Few Cowboys Left,” which, although not part of the Time album, has become a fan favorite.

Live Acoustic Performances

Several songs from Taylor Gold have already made their way into his live performances, where Gallaher takes a moment to showcase an intimate acoustic set that contrasts with the high-energy nature of his shows. He believes this shift in pace offers a fresh flavor to his overall performance.

Upcoming Performances

Fans can look forward to seeing Gallaher perform at a significant event as he opens for the iconic rock band Giant on August 28 and 29 at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley. Gallaher expressed his excitement for this opportunity, emphasizing his respect for the band and the special nature of performing solo acoustic.
